Pediheart Event 2020


On February 14, American College welcomed the Association of Parents and Friends of Children with Heart Disease in Cyprus for its annual event. This date is World Congenital Heart Disease Day.


In a warm ceremony, agencies from the Ministry of Health, Nicosia Municipality, and Volunteer Commissioner Yiannis Giannakis cited the coordinated actions of the State and the Makarios Hospital to highlight and facilitate the major and newly designed issue. wing at Makarios Hospital.


The event was also attended by the "Periklis Dimitriou" association, which carried out a symbolic torch relay on Ledra and Onasagorou streets below the red-lit facilities of the American College and the Nicosia Municipality.

The cause of the Association of Parents and Friends of Children with Heart Disease is the large number of children who are suffering from heart disease from birth. According to official figures, today they account for 33% of all cardiovascular diseases in Cyprus. In its 27 years of operation, the Association has provided financial assistance to more than 2000 families who have gone abroad for cardiac surgery.



In addition to granting its facilities, the American College is actively supporting the Association by offering special discounts on fees for members and families of the Association. In his brief address, Dr. Marios American expressed confidence that the College would extend the cooperation of the two organizations with additional support.
