Students, local or international, who
have completed courses at
another academic institution or possess qualifications such as GCE
‘A’ level are entitled to transfer credits to the American College
and receive course exemptions provided that:
|
|
• |
The
material covered is similar to a course offered at
Americanos College. |
|
|
• |
A passing
grade has been earned. |
Exception can be made in the case of
point (a) for courses which while they may be considered
fundamental and enjoy immense popularity in the countries in which
they are taught, yet they are not taught in countries such as
Cyprus. For example, whilst a student completing a course in
Persian History may not receive exemption from any particular
course at the American College, he/she may still receive some
credits for that particular course. These credits could then count
towards a program's General Education requirements. It is noted
that in such cases point (b) must be in order.
Transfer students wishing to receive
credit for their work must submit, along with their Application
for Admission, the following documents in English:
|
• |
Application
for Evaluation of Credits (can be obtained from the Office of
Admissions) together with the Evaluation of Credits application
fee. |
|
• |
Official
transcripts. |
|
• |
Detailed description
or syllabus of the course(s) completed. |
The official credit evaluation report
may be given to the student prior to admission, provided that the
student submitted all the above promptly. Students who fail to
submit, along with their Application for Admission, an Application
for Evaluation of Credits along with the necessary documents (as
described above) may do so at the time of registration, but not
later than the end of their first semester. Students who decide to
apply for evaluation of credits after they arrive at the College
must submit all necessary documents to the Office of
Administration and Finance. However, students are encouraged to
apply for evaluation of credits prior to registration in their
first semester to avoid registration in courses for which they
would otherwise receive credit.
Transfer students are required to
complete at the American College at least 30 credits for a Master
Degree or a Bachelor Degree or a Higher Diploma and at least 15
credits for a Diploma or a Certificate.
