MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEMS

DIPLOMA IN MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEMS

Students enrolled in this program earn a diploma in Management Information Systems.  The program is designed to prepare students for entry-level positions as systems analysts, programmer analysts and information systems and database management administrators, as well as for higher studies in business or information systems.

Aims and Objectives

The aims and objectives of the program are:

1. To enhance students’ critical thinking and to develop their basic analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
2. To provide students a solid understanding in the development and use of business information systems and information technology.
3. To supplement basic skills students learn in the functional areas of business (accounting, marketing, finance and management) with a firm foundation in the use of computers as a tool in solving information problems in organizations.
4. To provide students the analytical framework and the methodology to analyze, design, implement and manage basic computer-based information/decision systems.
5. To emphasize the role and application of computers in making management decisions.
6. To provide a solid academic, technical and intellectual background that would enable them to pursue higher studies in business information systems or other related fields.
